Surprised to see me again aren't you? Thought I was going to post once and run away for months again! Well, I'm at least giving you two posts before running away again. This one is a little different for me because I do not believe I have done a book review on here but this books begs for a review and to be read. The book I'm talking about it is Unflinching The Making of a Canadian Sniper by Jody Mitic.
For Christmas my dad got this book from my sister. I had remembered seeing Jody on Canadian AM talking about it and I remembered him from Amazing Race Canada because I had thought how crazy and amazing it was that he was on the show when he was working with prosthetic legs (came in second by the way! Nothing stops him!). I thought it would be an interesting read and actually I wanted to read it once my sister bought it for my dad but I figured I should not read it before it was given as the gift it was meant to be. Dad always gets a number of books for Christmas so I ended up 'borrowing' it before he could get to it anyways. I spent the whole day reading it, which takes a lot for me because as much as I can enjoy reading it is not something I do as often as I may like to.
This book is well written and very easy to read, the flow of it works well. Autobiographies/memories are some of my favorite genres to read even though they can be hard to get through sometimes. Jody has a pretty amazing story, his determination is inspirational. If you put your mind to something you can accomplish it and Jody shows that a number of times during his memoir. I do not want to give too much away because I do not want to make anyone feel they have read the book by reading this review. Jody will forever be a soldier at heart and has never let his injury hold him back. This is a story about courage, bravery and overcoming adversities most of us will never even imagine. Don Cherry's quote is so true "Makes you proud that Jody is Canadian". Jody wrote a book that sheds light on a number of issues both good and bad. I love how he tells his story, he seems like one hell of a good guy. Son, husband, father, friend, soldier etc he is doing it well. If you enjoy a memoir I truly recommend this book, even if memoirs are not your thing maybe try this one you might just like it!

Tunes Tuesday
Yes it is that time again for Tunes Tuesday but this week it is going to a little different as I have a tad more to say about the group I'm featuring and I'm probably not introducing this musical group to anyone! I'm talking about Il Divo, yes the pop opera group! I had the pleasure of seeing them for the 3rd time last Thursday and I have to say they just get better every time I see them perform. The group is made of up 4 amazingly talented men from America and Europe, also not so hard on the eyes ladies :) They have to be four of the best singers in the world. David and Carlos are pure magic when they sing! The four of them together honestly give me goosebumps every song they sing! Not only are amazing singers but they are real showmen, they know how to work the crowd, make a joke and just make sure everyone is having a great time watching and listening to them. I know pop/opera is not for everyone but really it is worth a listen to just hear the power of their voices. I hope that wasn't my last time seeing them! Hopefully next time will be in England!

And I'm back! Sorry I totally slacked off for almost two weeks! I honestly had no time or inspiration for the blog which is kinda super sad! But as I sad I'm back and I have lots of ideas for the upcoming weeks! YAY excited! I'm even back to whipping up stuff in the kitchen! But that post is for another day! Today is Tunes Tuesday and I have another amazing artist for you. I'm sure some of you have heard of Leonard Cohen but have you heard of his son Adam Cohen! I'm sure some of you have but I want everyone to listen to his music! He has that same haunting amazing voice his father does and knows exactly how to write a song! Anyways give him a listen and I promise you will love what you hear! See ya tomorrow with another post or two!

What a Blog Wednesday!
This week I’m featuring a new blog but Whitney the owner
isn’t new to blogging. Whitney is a good friend of mine from the sunny state of
Florida! She has started blogging again and of course I want you all to know
who she is and have a little look see at her blog! Her blog is I wore yoga
pants to work! I know it is still pretty new but Whitney already has some great
blogs up! She is a great writer, like you’re chatting with her and she is a fun
ball of loveliness!
Whitney blogs about fashion, crafts, friends, travels, etc!
It is a what I like to call a general life blog without getting into details
which is kind what I would call this blog at times and what it is going to be
leaning more towards as some different changes start happening in my life but
back to Whitney! She is a super cute fun girly girl who I know you’re going to
love because I can’t see how you couldn’t love her! Okay so now go and check
her blog out! Right now go!

What a blog Wednesday!
This week I’m featuring It’s Me KP! This blog is run by
Kelly Purkey and she is amazing! I love her blog! Like I’m talking love at
first sight! Why you may ask? Because she is basically living the life I would
love to live! She lives in NYC, travels around the world, works with
scrapbooking sites, companies that I love, lives in NYC oh wait I mentioned
that one already but I think that is my favorite part of her life! She gets to
live, eat, sleep, breathe NYC how could not want to live that life. Her blog is
filled with her travel adventures (yes pictures are included), amazing meals
she eats, great nights out with friends and her amazingly creative
scrapbooking. And to add just a bit more she is cute as a button!
I honestly hope one day I will have a life kinda like hers
mind you I have to get on that because she isn’t that much older than me like 2
years actually but not quite. But really Kelly’s blog is one of normalcy but
fantasy for me anyways. For the next couple of years I would love to her life
and then move into the life of Dear Lizzy! Of course making it all my own
because it would be weird if I just totally wanted to me like them even if they
are pretty amazing.
To sum it up I think you should check out Kelly’s blog! You
won’t regret it but you might envy her!
Check Kelly out here It’s Me KP!

Another Tunes Tuesday has come around again! This week I give you Blind Pilot! I have only been listening to them for a short time but I love them! I saw/heard them on the final episode of One Tree Hill and really liked the song that they played. This lead me to going to and downloading their album from iTunes and I have to say it was totally worth the movie. How I leave you with some videos to check them out for yourself! Enjoy! :)

Sorry for my lack of posts this week but I was down with an
ear and throat infection! This was the 4th of this cold and flu
season and be better the last for a long damn time! Also, Chase was home and it
became more of a family weekend, which leads me into this week’s lazy Sunday
movie review! The Hunger Games! (Yup got roped into that one!)
Okay, so last night my family decided to all go and see the
Hunger Games. My sister Erica has read all the books and was very excited for
the movies to come out and she did see it opening weekend with her friend
Nicole but she of course wanted to see it again! Since my brother Chase was
coming home for Easter weekend and wanted to see it too we all decided to go!
Of everyone I was the least excited about going because I didn’t read the books
and it just isn’t a movie I wanted to see because it isn’t my type of movie. I
can’t say I overly enjoyed the movie but I can say I didn’t hate it! I can also
see why people would enjoy the movie but it wasn’t something I will want to see
again but I see myself watching the next ones just to see what happens! I think
the movie was well acted and I enjoyed the interaction between the characters.
Cinna who is played by Lenny Kravitz is great in the movie and I just love him
anyways! Jennifer Lawrence & Josh Hutcherson which great in their roles, I
love Jennifer Lawrence, I think she is a great role model for girls, she isn’t
in trouble all the time and know how to act her age! She comes across very well
in interviews also! She is a hoot! I haven’t really since Josh in anything but
seems like a good little actor! All in all the acting was great but just not
the movie for me. I’m not going to go into detail because I don’t know what is
important or not in the storyline and I don’t want to give anything away just
in case! I do think many you will like it since I know many people have already
since it and loved it! If you’re bored go and see it! Or wait until it comes
out on DVD/OnDemand! J
Happy Easter/Long Weekend!
xo
PS I would be Team Gale based on the fact I think Liam is better looking then Josh but Liam brother's Chris is much hotter then both of them and was in three previews last night! Can't wait to see Snow White and the Huntsman!

Lazy Sunday Movie Review
This week I’m doing a movie many of us have seen before but
love no matter how many times we have seen it and that movie is Dirty Dancing!
I honestly could probably watch this movie everyday for the rest of my life and
still love it just as much as the first time I watched it.
Unless you have been living under a rock or are under the
age of 20 you have probably seen or at least heard of Dirty Dancing. It is the
story of a young girl Frances aka Baby who goes to a holiday camp with her
family for the summer and falls in love with the dancing instructor Johnny
Castle. There are of course ups and down in their love story since Johnny is
not from the right side of town but Baby doesn’t care. The movie makes me swoon
over Patrick Swayze every time, he plays Johnny Castle perfectly the attractive
misunderstood man who just wants a good life for himself. We all know Patrick
Swayze was a Hollywood star and we sadly lost him in 2009 to cancer. Jennifer
Grey plays Baby and it is her break out role! She had some work done to nose in
later years and many people could not even recognize her! She went to play in
many different roles including Mindy on Friends and even won the Mirror ball on
Dancing with the Stars with Derek Hough. In the end this is a movie about a
girl who has a heart of gold and ends up falling for the boy from the wrong
side town but he has that same heart of gold.
This movie is a sweet girly movie, something that is perfect
for a Sunday afternoon lazing on your couch, with junk food and nice glass of
wine J

What a Blog Wednesday!
This week I’m featuring All the Small Things Blog! This blog
is run by Kate who is a hair stylist! I first ran into her blog because of
Pinterest! She does hair tutorials which totally had me at hello because I love
doing different things to my hair but never do because I have fine hair that
doesn’t really like to be curled so unless someone else is going it for me it
is normally straight and down! But with Kate’s tutorials I’m slowly improving
my skills with hairstyles.
Kate always posts about her life, food, family, fashions,
her jewelry making and really a bit of everything, which I love! But again my
favorites are her hair tutorials! Kate seems like a super sweet down to earth
girl who could do your hair while making you some cookies! Her blog is awesome
so please check it out!!

Lazy Sunday Movie Review
Sundays are the days where you don’t want to do anything
really and you most definitely do not want to end because then it is Monday and
honestly who really like Mondays! One of my favorite pastimes on a Sunday is
watching movies whether it be sitting in front of my television at home or
going out to the theatre getting some yummy popcorn and sitting in a darken
room for 2 hours. Movies can make us cry, smile, laugh, and so many other
things but my favorite is when they take you to another time and you get so
involved you forget your reality and just let the movie take you along for the
ride.
On Thursday, I finally got to see the Artist and this movie
is one that takes you away! Silent films are not for everyone and I understand
that because I was not sure about this one myself but since the buzz around it
was so huge I decided I should give it a chance. I’m so pleased that I did get
to see it! It is a wonderful movie and I have to say I did not even miss the
spoken dialogue! You always knew exactly what was going on from the facial
expression and body language of the actors. Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo
were fantastic as the two lead roles in this film. They had the chemistry they
needed to pull off these rolls because they were not speaking they needed to
have that physical connection with each other and the audience. The storyline details
the ups and downs of a silent movie actor who is becoming old news in the
industry because it is time for the movies to have voices. The movie houses are
trying to keep up with the times and George Valentin wants to be an artist. The
movie was over before I wanted it to be but I think that just speaks to the
movie and how good it was. I do not think everyone will enjoy this movie but if
you like something a little different I believe this could be the movie for
you. It is a delight to watch, you will feel happy, sad, anger and just fall in
love with George Valentin and Peppy Miller.
PS Uggie steals all the scenes he is in J Love that dog!
4.5 stars out of 5 for me!
Hope you’re all having a lovely lazy Sunday!

Okay I have been rather busy so I haven’t been doing as much
cooking as I like. Well I have been cooking but it is stuff I have already made
so no point in posting it again. I thought I should post something so here is
it another music review and this time it is Ingrid Michaelson! This is Ingrid’s
latest album called Human Again and as always with her it is amazing!
I
honestly love her music and this album did not disappoint in any way! I love it
when I can listen to an album from start to finish and love every song. This is
what you get to do with this album. Of course I have a few favorites which are Fire,
How We Love, Palm of my Hand and Ghost. You will probably like most of these
too since I have great taste in music ;) I have to say I find this album more
mature and a bit more hard not the regular folky pop we have come to know from
our Ingrid but still an amazing album. I honestly and whole heartedly recommend
this album, I could listen to it for hours on end and I won’t lie I have had it
on repeat at work since it came out J
Okay now stop reading this review and go and buy this
album!!!
Oh and a side note I won tickets to see Il Divo yesterday!!
They are playing at the Metro Centre on May 24th and I thought I wasn’t
going to be able to see them because I’m in a bit of saving mode (trip to
Dominican in April please and thanks) and floor seats happen to be more then I
want to spend . I figured I would wait and see what happened and maybe get some
last minute. Well the Metro Centre did a giveaway on Twitter saying the first
person to tweet their favorite Il Divo love song would win a pair of tickets to
the show! So I quickly tweeted my answer which was just the first song that
popped into my head and BAM Winner right here! I cannot wait! I love Il Divo and
I love just going to concerts! YAY for me! J

Review
A
few weeks ago my momma and I were in Halifax doing some shopping for her
upcoming trip to LA and the Grammys! Yes you read that right my momma is going
to the Grammys! Excited and totes jealous right here! It was a miserable day!
Raining cats and dogs for most of the day! Once we had gotten our shopping done
we decided to have a nice dinner and a glass of wine at il Mercato (the Bedford
location). It was only 4:30 when we got there so it was not busy, we settled in
for a lovely evening of delicious food and great wine!
We
started with a glass of Spy Valley, which is a Sauvignon
Blanc from New Zealand. It is one of my favorite wines I could drink it
everyday. For starters Mom had Wild
mushroom and prosciutto Risotto croquettes, fresh Mozzarella centre, warm
tomato, basil pesto Genovese sauce and I had the Jumbo Shrimp sautéed with
roasted garlic, cream, white wine, Italian parsley. They are both as divine as
they sound. The sauce for the jumbo sauce is almost the whole reason I get the
shrimp. Yes I do enjoy shrimp but that sauce is something else. For our mains
mom had the handmade Ravioli filled with roasted chicken, wild mushrooms &
Cambozola, Mushroom sherry cream sauce and I had the tagliatelle, Jumbo Shrimp,
Mussels, Scallops, Local Lobster, garlic, tomato, cream, sherry splash. So
delicious! I do not think I can even find the words to describe how tasty our
meal was, truly a delicious meal. Even though we were quite full we decided to splurge
and get dessert mom got the bread pudding and I got the bourbon tart! Perfect
sweet ending to our meal and I may or may not have gotten a second glass of
wine with dessert ;) told you I loved it!
We had a wonderful waiter who was
attentive but not so much that he was annoying. I love the atmosphere in this
place and just how lovely and relaxed it was. If you’re looking for a nice
evening out please do try il Mercato in Bedford or downtown Halifax, I’m sure
you will not ever regret it.
