Sunday Social with Ashley and Neely!

28 September 2014 No comments
And another weekend is gone! I really think a three day weekend should happen every weekend or at least every other weekend. It was a beautiful weekend weather wise! Felt more like summer than fall. Loved it! Yesterday I was in Halifax so I could have dinner with my lovely friends and send off our little Tiana because she is leaving for Toronto on Tuesday. I can't believe  I won't be able to see her again until Christmas! But like I was saying that will be here in a blink of an eye!

Today, was just homework and errands! Totally boring I know! So lets do a link up with Ashley and Neely again since I don't want to leave you with the most boring post ever! PS I already have posts planned for this week so you will see me more then once this week I promise :)

Have a great week everyone!

1. What is your favorite magazine to read?
Hmmm I haven't been reading magazines lately but I would have still have to say Vogue or People because of love the fashion of Vogue and the celebrity content of People.

2. What is the best thing you’ve seen online lately?
This 'fight' between these little kids just makes me laugh and he just melts my heart....You poked my heart

3. What is your favorite celebrity to follow on Instagram or Twitter?
I know they might not be celebrity celebrities but my favorite people on Twitter at Nolan Thiessen and Ben Hebert. They are Canadian Curlers and I love them! They are funny, smart and entertaining!

4. Is there one article of clothing no matter what the season you can’t help but love?
Tank tops! I have so many! Easy for summer with some shorts and great for wearing under sweaters and cardigans in the winter.

5. Do you prefer email or snail mail?
I like both! I love the quickness of an email but I love the surprise of getting a nice letter in the mail.

Sunday Funday!

Sunday Funday! Or Sunday do laundry and homework all day! Either way I hope you're all having a great Sunday! It is lovely here today. The sun is shining and the breeze is delightfully warm. So doing this fall themed link up seems weird but I haven't linked up with Ashley and Neely in a VERY LONG time so I figured why not do it today!

1. What is your favorite part of fall?
My favorite part of fall is the crisp weather, changing colors, sweaters, boots and all that fun stuff. I'm going getting back into crafting in the fall too because I hardly take the time to do it in the summer since I would rather be outside.

2. Do you have anything special planned for fall?
Not yet anyways! Baby Leigh is coming in October/November so I'm excited for that but that has nothing to do with me planning anything haha

3. What is fall like in your area?
Fall is just fall here, crisp weather, farmer's markets and such.

4. What is your favorite football team to cheer for (college or professional)?
I'm not a football fan so I have no answer for this.

5. Do you decorate for fall? Show us pics!
I do decorate for fall but I don't have of it out yet nor do I have pictures of it from other years so you will just have to take my word for it :)

Hope you're all ready for another week! Have a relaxing Sunday evening folks!

Weekend Update!

Okay I didn't do a great job getting back into blogging last week but this is going to be harder than I first thought! I'm so out of practice with blogging I forget I was even going to blog half the time! So lets cross our fingers for a better week this week!

As I didn't bake/cook anything exciting last week I decided to just make this a ramble blog about my weekend. I'm adding Friday into this because we had our first client day of the semester on Friday. I got to do a roller set on one client and a cut and style on another! I was nervous about it before but the day went great and we all got through it amazingly! Job well done to all of us! After school was over I honestly just chilled for the rest of day because I was tired from the full week of school. Saturday, I have to say I didn't do that much either. I went to lunch with Erica and finished baby shower shopping for my friend Deena since Sunday I was going up to Halifax for the shower. Saturday night I was super cool and did laundry and homework! I know you're jealous but not all of us can be that cool!

Sunday I was up and off around 10:30 with Erica to Halifax for the shower. The shower was so much fun and very well done by Deena's twin sister Dawn and mother Linda. Not only did I get to have a lovely time at the shower but I was able to spend some time with some of my favorite people. We had a great afternoon of chatter, games and shower food! I wish I lived closer so I could everyone more. I say this and my friends here I don't see enough either! Anyways it was a great weekend but never long enough! I could use for some more relaxing time but alas I will sleep when I'm dead right?

Hope everyone had a great weekend! xo

Make It Yourself Monday!

We are starting the week off on the right foot folks! Fingers crossed I can keep this up :) In case any of you are wondering I had a great first week back at school. We mainly were just getting back into the groove of things so this week will really be back to school. I know some you really want/like knowing about what I'm doing in school and how it is going so I plan to post updates about school mainly on Friday :)

Anyways, lets get into today's post which is a baking post! I won't lie to you but I made these cookies back in July thinking I would post about them before now but alas I haven't posted about them. They are probably one of my new favorite cookies! This is why I haven't made them since I first made them because they are so darn good! They are red velvet cookies and boy are they yummy! They are not that hard either it is just the waiting that makes them kind of annoying to bake. That being said they are totally worth it!

I found this recipe at Gonna Want Seconds (Pinterest to start). Check out Kathleen's site for more yummy recipes!

Ingredients

2 1/4 Cups - Flour
1/3 Cup - Cocoa Powder
1 1/2 Teaspoons - Baking Powder
1/4 Teaspoon - Salt
1/2 Cup - Unsalted Butter, Softened
2 Ounces - Cream Cheese, Softened
1 1/2 Cup - Sugar
2 - Eggs, Large
2 Teaspoons - Red Food Color
1 Teaspoon - Vanilla Extract
3/4 Cup - Powder Sugar

Directions
1.In a medium bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt; set aside.

2. In a large bowl, mix butter and cream cheese with an electric mixer. Add sugar and cream until light and fluffy; a couple of minutes. Add eggs, food color and vanilla extract and mix until well combined. Gentle fold half the flour and cocoa mixture to the egg mixture until just incorporated, then fold in second half the same way. Place dough in the fridge for at least 4 hours.

3.Prehat oven to 350°F.

4. Form dough into 1 1/2 Tablespoon balls. Roll dough balls in powdered sugar and place on silpat lined cookie sheets.
5. Bake cookies in preheated oven for approximately 10 minutes. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for approximately 15 minutes then transfer to wire racks and cool completely.

6. Try and not eat them all! So yummy!

Slack Blogger? Not a summer blogger!

Yup, it is official I'm not a summer blogger! I had idea for posts but I never had/took the time to sit down and write them out. There was always something more fun/exciting/important to do!

Since it is September (WOAH! how did that happen already?) and school is back on Wednesday I figured it was time to get back into a nice routine and it will include blogging on a regular basis. Now, that being said this week probably won't have anymore posts because I will be busy with back to school stuff and just getting back into routine! I just wanted to come and say hi and yes I will be back!

Now, I'm going to leave you with some of my pictures from August! Hope you're all having a great Labour Day weekend.
