Tunes Tuesday

Yes it is that time again for Tunes Tuesday but this week it is going to a little different as I have a tad more to say about the group I'm featuring and I'm probably not introducing this musical group to anyone! I'm talking about Il Divo, yes the pop opera group! I had the pleasure of seeing them for the 3rd time last Thursday and I have to say they just get better every time I see them perform. The group is made of up 4 amazingly talented men from America and Europe, also not so hard on the eyes ladies :) They have to be four of the best singers in the world. David and Carlos are pure magic when they sing! The four of them together honestly give me goosebumps every song they sing! Not only are amazing singers but they are real showmen, they know how to work the crowd, make a joke and just make sure everyone is having a great time watching and listening to them. I know pop/opera is not for everyone but really it is worth a listen to just hear the power of their voices. I hope that wasn't my last time seeing them! Hopefully next time will be in England!

I honestly find the best recipes on Pearls, Handcuffs and Happy Hour! I browsing around that blog again and found a recipe for Crispy Southwestern Chicken Wraps! Who doesn’t love a good wrap? This one was so good and a perfect dinner wrap with a nice side of salad! Sometimes wraps just don’t have enough in them to be dinner wraps but this one has more then enough!

This wrap has chicken, rice, beans (if you want them, we didn’t so I felt them out!) spices, cilantro, peppers, cheese etc! I can tell your mouth is starting to water now and I don’t blame it! The flavor of this wrap is so yummy! I ended up not having chili powder so I used red pepper and paprika instead which turned out fine! Here is the finished product! Yummy Yummy!

Now for dessert I made deep-dish mini fruit pizzas and man they were so tasty! And they were also super easy! Pillsbury dough, cool whip, cream cheese and berries and bam you have a delicious pretty dessert and would be a perfect dessert appetizer at almost any event as they are basically bite size! Please don’t drool on your keyboard when viewing the upcoming picture! J

I hope you didn’t all fill up from eating too much of that delicious-sounding Spicy Chicken Rigatoni recipe Brittany posted yesterday, because summer is upon us, and we all know what that means: swimsuit season. Not only that, but summer generally brings one of my favorite collections of fashion in the form of resort wear.

Even if you can’t afford a glamorous getaway or a big-name designer ensemble, all you have to do is throw on a simple shift in a bright color or pop on a pair of oversize sunglasses and you’re instantly chic for summer.

Below are a few of my favorite looks from Oscar de la Renta and Chanel, respectively. Whether it’s a June picnic, cocktails on a rooftop, or even lounging by the pool, there is something for every occasion in these two collections. I can’t wait to see what some of my other favorite designers have in store for us in the weeks to come. Happy shopping, ladies!

The other day I was on Pearls Handcuffs and Happy Hour and found a recipe that looked delightful! I figured it had to be because I have tried a few others from this blog and they were DELISH! I wanted to make it earlier in the week like Sunday or Monday but it was Victoria Day weekend meaning you need to BBQ and be outside! So pasta wasn’t in the cards unless it was a cold pasta salad! But back to the recipe I found! It is called Spicy Chicken Rigatoni! Red pepper flakes, sauce, chicken and bam you have this fantastic dinner! Well there are a couple more things but you get my drift of this being super simple and super yummy! Here is the finished product with some cheese sprinkled on top! Sorry only a phone picture forgot my camera upstairs and decided I was too lazy to go and get it! If you’re craving some pasta I really suggest you whip this up J

PS I'm going to see Il Divo tomorrow and I'm leaving right after work so I don't know if we will have a post tomorrow but will have another for ya on Friday :)

And I'm back! Sorry I totally slacked off for almost two weeks! I honestly had no time or inspiration for the blog which is kinda super sad! But as I sad I'm back and I have lots of ideas for the upcoming weeks! YAY excited! I'm even back to whipping up stuff in the kitchen! But that post is for another day! Today is Tunes Tuesday and I have another amazing artist for you. I'm sure some of you have heard of Leonard Cohen but have you heard of his son Adam Cohen! I'm sure some of you have but I want everyone to listen to his music! He has that same haunting amazing voice his father does and knows exactly how to write a song! Anyways give him a listen and I promise you will love what you hear! See ya tomorrow with another post or two!

Since I accidentally managed to write more than I intended to in my last two updates, I thought this would be a great week to take a little detour and incorporate some fashion fun into my corner of the blog.

Earlier this week, the annual Met Gala took place in New York City, and, as always, the stars came out for what many have dubbed the East Coast’s version of the Oscars. With this year’s theme paying tribute to the extraordinary Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, the fashions ranged from traditional to avant-garde…and even to hot mess. Below are my five most memorable looks of the evening.

Keep in mind I said “most memorable,” not “the best.”

1.    Anna Wintour smartly (and chicly) stuck to the theme of the evening by wearing a Prada gown inspired by Schiaparelli’s infamous lobster dress of the 1930’.

2.    Sarah Jessica Parker looked as though she took inspiration from Scarlett O’Hara and pulled down her grandmother’s curtains in order to fashion her evening ensemble. In reality, her look was courtesy of Valentino.

3.    Supermodel Karolina Kurkova channeled her inner Daisy Buchanan in a slinky gown and turban with a 1920’s feel, designed by Rachel Zoe.

4.    Also taking inspiration from The Great Gatsby? Actress Camilla Belle (is she still acting? I can’t recall…no shade though!), who wowed in this Ralph Lauren sheath.

5.    Finally, what can be said for Lauren Santo Domingo’s daring look? It may be Oscar de la Renta, but to the mainstream fashion critics, it looks a bit more like a mother of the bride suit circa 1983 crossed with the extravagance of Princess Diana’s wedding dress. Oh, Ms. Santo Domingo, you’re an editor at Vogue…you should know better.

It that time again for Tunes Tuesday!

This week I'm giving you music from Marie Digby! I came across her when visiting Dear Lizzy's blog and she had music playing from her on her website! I love her melodies, voice, lyrics and sweet way she can sing a sad song! I hope you like her just as much as I do :)

Paint Me in your sunshine is my favorite song by her :)

Check her website out at Marie Digby

Sunday Funday!

Here are some videos from Ilya Bryzgalov, I think he might be crazy! One too many shots to the head! But he is one of the funniest people to listen to!

I really hadn’t planned to write about reality television again this week (I *do* watch scripted series as well, I swear!), but in the past few days, the reality world has just been chok full of news…and I couldn’t just let that go unreported, could I?

Obviously, the answer is no, I could not. So let’s just dive right in, shall we?

First up, those crazy (or should I say “krazy?”) Kardashians. Now, I honestly have nothing against the Kardashians. They’re generally entertaining enough and they don’t appear to be going out of their way to be hateful or mean-spirited, I just find their love of the cameras and eagerness to endorse any and every product under the sun (diet pills and cupcakes? Conflict of interest, anyone?) easy to snark on. So imagine my shock to learn that one of their own is choosing to walk away from their E!-created empire.

Khloe’s decision to end her profitable spinoff “Khloe & Lamar” made headlines when it was announced earlier this week. There has been speculation as to why she would willingly pull the plug, but Khloe insists she’s purposely stepping away from the cameras to focus on her marriage and support her husband get back in the game, so to speak, after a rough season in Dallas. I’m not 100 percent certain that her reasoning is entirely selfless, as the news has raked in quite a bit of publicity for the Kardashian clan, including allegedly making her momager Kris furious, but I have to say that I’m impressed that anyone in the reality TV bubble has the ability to look past the momentary fame and remain grounded enough to realize that some things are best dealt with away from the camera.

In far less commendable news, VH1 is threatening to due one of the stars of its hit show, Basketball Wives. Jennifer Williams raised eyebrows when she announced she intended to press charges against a friend of a cast member after said friend slapped Jennifer during a taping. In turn, producers are threatening legal action against Jennifer for damaging the integrity of the Basketball Wives brand. I think I speak for anyone who has ever watched the show by asking, “What integrity?” This is a show built on vicious fights and thirtysomethings generally acting like pre-schoolers. I’m not sure there’s anything there to damage.

Finally, Taylor Armstrong of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is back in the media glare after allegedly becoming intoxicated at a four year old’s birthday party. Classy. Anyone who has read my personal tumblr will know that I am no fan of Taylor’s, and that doesn’t look to be changing any time soon. There has been speculation that producers plan to phase her out of the upcoming season’s story arc, and as such, she is desperate to create a storyline for herself. I would normally never accuse anyone of feigning an addiction of any sort, but, given Taylor’s history, I wouldn’t be at all shocked to learn that she is simply playing up to the cameras. We may never actually know the truth to this scenario, but I, for one, am anxiously awaiting the return of the glitzy gals of Beverly Hills.

What a Blog Wednesday!

This week I’m featuring a new blog but Whitney the owner isn’t new to blogging. Whitney is a good friend of mine from the sunny state of Florida! She has started blogging again and of course I want you all to know who she is and have a little look see at her blog! Her blog is I wore yoga pants to work! I know it is still pretty new but Whitney already has some great blogs up! She is a great writer, like you’re chatting with her and she is a fun ball of loveliness!

Whitney blogs about fashion, crafts, friends, travels, etc! She is a super cute fun girly girl who I know you’re going to love because I can’t see how you couldn’t love her! Okay so now go and check her blog out! Right now go!
