What a Blog Wednesday!

This week I have decided to feature a blog called Only Slightly Neurotic. Kayla Aimee runs this blog and I have been reading her blog for a long time now and she has one of the best blogs for sure! I mean why else would I be telling you about it if it wasn’t!?

I feel like I have gone through many ups and downs with Kayla because of her blog and her how candid she can be when she is writing. I normally went to Kayla’s blog for a laugh or to see what she was scrapbooking. I then got to read about her love story with her husband Jeff; they have a great story together. Then Kayla was pregnant which was great! We knew they were trying. She had the cutest little belly! Her readers were then asked to send prayers her way because her baby girl was born much too earlier. Scarlette was in the hospital for a very long time and had many things wrong with her. I cried when Kayla would post that Scarlette wasn’t having a good day and I would rejoice when she hit even the littlest milestones. Thanks to many Doctors, Nurses, her mommy and daddy that little girl is a much healthier 16-month. One of the cutest I would say! I adore Kayla’s blog! I really think she is great because you can relate to her; she is a normal mom who makes mistakes, knows that is okay and moves on from it. If you want to read something funny and relatable I would check out Only Slightly Neurotic!

Thanks for dropping in! xo

On Sunday night I found the next recipe I wanted to try mainly because it was only FOUR ingredients! As you have learned from reading this blog the easier the recipe is the better I like it! This recipe comes from Six in the Suburbs! The recipe I found is for Lemon Cloud Cookies! Don’t they just sound like Spring, which it was basically spring and summer here last week but we have returned to winter this week! I hate snow if you didn’t know and yes I know I live in Nova Scotia!

But back to the cookies! All you need is a box of lemon cake mix, cool whip, one egg and powdered sugar. Yup, I know easy! You combine everything expect the powered sugar and let it sit in the fridge for a few hours and up to over night because the dough is STICKY!! This is my only complaint about the recipe and you really can’t help it but lordy the dough is so sticky it makes me never want to make these cookies again even though they are delicious! Drove me crazy but in the end I guess it was worth it since the cookies are super light, chewy and delicious! I don’t overly like lemon flavor was there was just enough in these cookies for me J I’m glad I tried them! They were very tasty! Plus my family loves them J

Next cooking adventure goes back to cooking and not baking! I have a big meal planned and I’m not sure I can do it but I will try and let you know how it goes!

Lazy Sunday Movie Review

This week I’m doing a movie many of us have seen before but love no matter how many times we have seen it and that movie is Dirty Dancing! I honestly could probably watch this movie everyday for the rest of my life and still love it just as much as the first time I watched it.

Unless you have been living under a rock or are under the age of 20 you have probably seen or at least heard of Dirty Dancing. It is the story of a young girl Frances aka Baby who goes to a holiday camp with her family for the summer and falls in love with the dancing instructor Johnny Castle. There are of course ups and down in their love story since Johnny is not from the right side of town but Baby doesn’t care. The movie makes me swoon over Patrick Swayze every time, he plays Johnny Castle perfectly the attractive misunderstood man who just wants a good life for himself. We all know Patrick Swayze was a Hollywood star and we sadly lost him in 2009 to cancer. Jennifer Grey plays Baby and it is her break out role! She had some work done to nose in later years and many people could not even recognize her! She went to play in many different roles including Mindy on Friends and even won the Mirror ball on Dancing with the Stars with Derek Hough. In the end this is a movie about a girl who has a heart of gold and ends up falling for the boy from the wrong side town but he has that same heart of gold.

This movie is a sweet girly movie, something that is perfect for a Sunday afternoon lazing on your couch, with junk food and nice glass of wine J

What a Blog Wednesday!

This week I’m featuring All the Small Things Blog! This blog is run by Kate who is a hair stylist! I first ran into her blog because of Pinterest! She does hair tutorials which totally had me at hello because I love doing different things to my hair but never do because I have fine hair that doesn’t really like to be curled so unless someone else is going it for me it is normally straight and down! But with Kate’s tutorials I’m slowly improving my skills with hairstyles.

Kate always posts about her life, food, family, fashions, her jewelry making and really a bit of everything, which I love! But again my favorites are her hair tutorials! Kate seems like a super sweet down to earth girl who could do your hair while making you some cookies! Her blog is awesome so please check it out!!

Carrie Underwood is amazing! I love this song!! Hope you enjoy it too :) xo

I thought I should get back to some baking since I haven’t posted about my creations in the kitchen since like forever! So yesterday after running around town with my momma I settled in and made some amazing cookies! They are Carrot Cake Cookie Sandwiches with cream cheese frosting!! Yes they taste just as amazing as they sound!

These cookies are based on a cookie by Martha Stewart so I feel as if I have come up a level in baking because well Martha just doesn’t seem like something I should be trying yet! But I did and man I’m so happy I did! I have to say I like these cookies better without the frosting but that is not a weird thing for me! I prefer my cake without frosting/icing too. I guess I’m a simple kind of girl or other just say I’m weird and how could I not love the frosting! Anyways, lets get back to these cookies! They are amazing and the recipe makes a good amount! The only thing I don’t like is that you have to keep them in the fridge, which really isn’t a big deal I just don’t like my cookies cold. If you like carrot cake you will love these cookies, they are moist and just have enough carrot-y flavor you might even think they are good for you J

PS Took me forever to find pumpkin pie spice but it was well worth it!!

Enjoy! J

Lazy Sunday Movie Review

Sundays are the days where you don’t want to do anything really and you most definitely do not want to end because then it is Monday and honestly who really like Mondays! One of my favorite pastimes on a Sunday is watching movies whether it be sitting in front of my television at home or going out to the theatre getting some yummy popcorn and sitting in a darken room for 2 hours. Movies can make us cry, smile, laugh, and so many other things but my favorite is when they take you to another time and you get so involved you forget your reality and just let the movie take you along for the ride.

On Thursday, I finally got to see the Artist and this movie is one that takes you away! Silent films are not for everyone and I understand that because I was not sure about this one myself but since the buzz around it was so huge I decided I should give it a chance. I’m so pleased that I did get to see it! It is a wonderful movie and I have to say I did not even miss the spoken dialogue! You always knew exactly what was going on from the facial expression and body language of the actors. Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo were fantastic as the two lead roles in this film. They had the chemistry they needed to pull off these rolls because they were not speaking they needed to have that physical connection with each other and the audience. The storyline details the ups and downs of a silent movie actor who is becoming old news in the industry because it is time for the movies to have voices. The movie houses are trying to keep up with the times and George Valentin wants to be an artist. The movie was over before I wanted it to be but I think that just speaks to the movie and how good it was. I do not think everyone will enjoy this movie but if you like something a little different I believe this could be the movie for you. It is a delight to watch, you will feel happy, sad, anger and just fall in love with George Valentin and Peppy Miller.

PS Uggie steals all the scenes he is in J Love that dog!

4.5 stars out of 5 for me!

Hope you’re all having a lovely lazy Sunday!

I hate springing ahead! But only in the morning! This morning when my alarm went off I wanted to cry and throw it out the window! I get up at 5:30am so it felt like 4:30am!! You should not be able at this time unless you have stayed up all night! However I do love how long we have the daylight now into the evening but lordy I can't wait until like Wednesday when I'm used to this damn change! Right now it is 10:30 but feels like 9:30! I'm almost dead anyways because I'm so sleepy today! Should go to bed now because I'm probably not even making sense! Just once more I hate springing ahead!

Vent ended! See ya on Wednesday for what a blog! I would post tomorrow but I will be in the city and not sure when I will be home! Shopping day tomorrow!

What a blog Wednesday!

I have decided that each Wednesday I will be featuring one of my favorite blogs in a post called what a blog Wednesday (i'm sure you guessed that already)! For my first week I decided on my good friend Jennifer's blog oh my owls! Jennifer's blog is much like mine in the fact we post about food, crafts and the things that interest us. Jennifer also has a small addiction to pinterest so she had a lot of great crafts and food ideas for you. My favorite post she has done so far is her burlap wreath and as soon as I get myself some burlap I will be making myself one! It is super nice and goes well with almost any wall color and you can add whatever other decoration you like to it!  Jennifer has a thing for owls if you haven't guessed that from her blog name! I'm starting to think her house is full of owl decor! All of it being totally adorable by the way! Jennifer is a sweet, funny girl and her blog is great! I may be a tad bias as she is a friend but I'm sure you will like it too! I mean come on look how adorable she is! How could you not love her!?

Click here to go to Oh My Owls!

I have one warning for you Jennifer makes cupcakes and then posts pictures of them! You will then be hungry and want a cupcake! Don't say I didn't warn you when this happens!

Please now go and visit Jennifer over at her blog Oh My Owls

Calling All Scrapbookers!

Dear Lizzy has new line out! It has been out for a little bit but I finally ordered some for myself! It is probably my favorite line of hers yet! Honestly I love every line she has put out but this stuff is just amazing! It is bright, cheerful, full of whimsy and just plain delightful! Here is a video to show you how fun it is! This video was created by Lizzy’s hubby Colin who does amazing videos! This family is full of creative energy! I can only imagine what her girls are going to be like when they get older. By the way Lizzy and Colin have 3 beautiful little girls!

As I mentioned before I have finally ordered myself some product from the new line! I should probably admit that I ordered everything and not just some! Yup I caved and ordered the whole new line because I loved it so much! This also I hope is going to make me get back into my scrapbooking. I have been scrapbooking for a few years now but this past year I haven’t done as much as I would like at all! I have hardly done anything really. I made a scrapbook for some friends as a wedding/Christmas gift but haven’t really done much else (like nothing else). I have to say I miss it because it was my first real crafty-ness I started and I love being able to document pictures in a different way then just placing them in an album. Fingers crossed this is what brings me back and I think it will! Anyways, I just wanted to let you all know how amazing I think Dear Lizzy is! She is awesome in pretty much very way! Yes, I kinda wanna be her best friend!

If you want to check out more Dear Lizzy stuff follow the links below!

I’m back and I’m sorry for my long absence! February was a very busy month of me and to top it off I had the flu for the last week of it basically! Yes, I will spare you the details of my illness because really I don’t want to relive them! So we will just say fresh start in March J

The first recipe on Pinterest I ever saw was for S’more cookies! They looked insanely delicious but I was not into my baking/cooking groove so I was not even interested in attempting them because at that point I could not do things in the kitchen. I bugged Erica to make them for a while but that never happened so finally once I got some confidence in the kitchen I decided I could make these cookies myself! And I did it! These are amazing cookies! They are not something you want to eat a million of though because they are quite rich but man they are good! They are pretty easy too! As you can see they look delish and honestly they are one of the best cookies I have ever eaten! They are gooey and chocolaty and crunchy! Everyone that had some loved them! Really you should try them if you have company coming or just need some good cookies in the house J

I also made Buttermilk Blueberry Breakfast cake, which was delicious, and a perfect quick breakfast! This recipe gave me a little trouble but only because I didn’t pay close enough attention to the directions so we are going to leave it at that and move on! No need to dwell on my mistakes! I recommend this recipe if you’re having a breakfast or brunch with the family or friends. It is a light cake so nothing heavy in your tummy and it is really fresh because of the lemon in it. A very tasty breakfast cake indeed!

And now I leave you until next time, which will probably be tomorrow because I have another post in the works already J
