Sports...What I Watch

21 September 2016 1 comment
Yes, I was reaching for something to write about today and I was coming up with not much and then it hit me! SPORTS! I know I do not seem like the sports watching girl but I am with certain sports. No, sorry it does not include football. This summer I jumped on the bandwagon for volleyball but I don't know how much that is going to stick since it is not a widely popular sport over here in Canada. I did really enjoy it though, it is fun, very fast pace sport!

But onto the sports I actually watch. There is two and they both include ice, Curling and Hockey! Canadian pastimes! I have been a hockey fan all my life, I have been a fan of the Ottawa Senators for years even though the players who got me liking the team have retired or been traded (Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Speeza) I have a soft spot for my Senators and I probably always will. Hockey is something I can have on in the background while I'm doing something else and it can also turn me into a raving lunatic! Yes, I have been known to yell at the tv and to stop myself from swearing too much I make very noises instead. Anyone who has watched an important game with me with know this as true. I also have rivalry with my father who loves the Montreal Canadiens, that is never going to change and it is really just fun I will cheer for anyone but Montreal!

Now curling, I started liking that more in 2008, my parents always liked it and watched it but I was never into it. Well, and maybe I shouldn't admit to this but John Morris and Ben Hebert got me liking curling. At the time they played for Team Kevin Martin. Curling is a WAY more difficult sport to play than most people think, the amount of technique and skill you need to have to make the shots that they do is insane. I think I enjoy curling more now then even hockey. Normally if curling is on I will sit down and actually watch it. This season my team is Kevin Koe because my favorite team last season is no more Team Pat Simmons. I'm still a tad devastated that they parted ways but that is life in the curling world.

Are you into sports? What is your favorite sport to watch?

Getting There....

Well this whole back to blogging thing is coming slowly but it is coming! I do want to blog but I'm having a hard time stringing the words together how I like them! Which in blogging/writing can cause quite the problem! But alas we will power through this and get back to normal as soon as possible!

I'm in my final two days of being 31....as of Wednesday morning I will be 32! I honestly don't care about aging because it happens and you can't fight it! Well some people try to and we can all tell who they are! I can say my life is not where I thought it would be when I turned 32 but I'm very happy and I know everything happens for a reason. If other plans had of worked out I would be doing what I love and my life would be very different. For my birthday, we having a family dinner on Wednesday and then on Friday myself and my momma are going to see from the curling Masters in Truro. I'm rather excited because I haven't been to a curling event in a long time, should be a really good time. Then on Sunday again with my momma I'm going to see Travis Tritt and I can't wait! It is going to be such a good time! I have loved Travis Tritt since I was a little girl. It is great getting to go with my mom too because she is really the reason I listened to him in the first place. Plus, she had a lot to do with my birthday so nice to share this stuff with her :)

Also, today I'm linking up with Meghan and Biana for Weekending with....I have to say I didn't have the most exciting weekend! But, I will give you the details anyways! On Saturday I had to work until lunch time. I did my sister's hair and one of my cousin's came in for blow out. Then, I went to lunch with Erica (sister for those who don't know) and I had a lovely greek salad! I'm not sure how you could go wrong when you have feta cheese on something! So yummy! After that I came home and chilled and honestly did nothing for the rest of the evening! I told you my weekend wasn't exciting! On Sunday I helped get my dad ready to leave for up north again. He will be working up there again until maybe mid December. If any of you have kids and need to get Santa their letters we can ship to my dad and he can deliver them! Yes he is almost that far up north! Erica and my mom took him to the airport so I had dinner and hung out with Chase (my brother) for the evening. I don't think I need to include today since I cleaned and did laundry! But honestly Monday are my Sundays because I don't work on Mondays. Sadly they never really feel like Sundays but I will take it!

Anyways I hope you all had a great weekend! What are everyone's plans for Halloween?

xoxo

Another weekend over and another Monday here! This weekend seem to fly by! I hope everyone is having a nice Monday. I can't believe November is half over already! This year is flying by honestly! Before we know it Christmas will be here and then it will be 2014!

This weekend was a good one. It was pretty relaxing and productive! I think those are some of the best weekends to have really. On Saturday I had lunch out with Erica and did some errands and then came home to get out some more Christmas decorations. I have been slowing bringing everything out since Thursday because I have been cleaning as I was going too because I can't not clean before I decorate! Everything is looking really good. Got most of the trees up and now they just have to be fluffed and decorated. I also watched some curling last night and decided to bake cookies at 10pm lol It was a good Saturday.

Sunday was much the same! More decorating and more curling. It is the Canadian Open of Curling and it is a big event and there was almost no one there! Makes me mad since I would have loved to have been there but it was basically across the country from me. The last curling event I watched too there was basically no one there! I think they should have more events out here in east because it would be packed if they were out here instead of out west. Maybe next season they will have more out here. I love watching curling because they some of the only players who get to be super friendly with each other. It can be the finals and they are often still laughing and joking with each other. If you ever want to check of some teams my favorites are Team Kevin Martin and Team Kevin Koe. Also, check out John Morris because he is super hot hahaha. And in case you're wondering my team Koe won the Canadian Open!! YAY!

John Morris, firefighter, Olympic Gold Medalist, good looking! ;)

I also got all registered for Crop and Create! I'm already excited! I signed up for a class with Vicki Boutin who does amazing projects! It is great weekend in general because of all the scrapbooking I get done and it is just so much fun! This past March was the first year I went and man I was missing out! Erica and myself are going again and we can't wait! And it will be here before we know it! I will actually probably start making page kits in January!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and you have a great week ahead of you :) See you all tomorrow for Taste of Tuesday!

Weekend Update!

04 March 2013 No comments

Happy Monday Everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! I know I did! This past weekend I spent my time in Halifax. Myself and my sister headed to Halifax on Friday after she is was done at work. We were suppose to only be going up for Saturday night but since the AUS basketball was going on that weekend, some of Erica's friends were going up for the whole weekend so Erica wanted to see some basketball too and we decided why not make a whole weekend of it! When we got the hotel on Friday, Erica quickly got ready and headed out to the basketball games! I got cozy and relaxed in the hotel! I love hotel living! I curled up and watched some Big Brother Canada live feeds! Go Team Jillian! For anyone that is watching BB Canada I know the house guest Jillian! It is so much more fun watching the show when you know someone lol

Look who I found on the TV! Serena Ryder!!

On Saturday, we slept in for a bit because that is what you're suppose to do at the hotel right? Then we got ready and headed to the mall for just a bit of shopping. I also met up with my friend Natalie, we chatted and shopped around for bit! Very nice seeing her since I haven't seen her since the summer I think! Then, we headed to another shopping centre for some more shopping! I finally realized I hadn't eaten all day so when we were at Chapters I got myself a snack at Starbucks so I wouldn't pass out before supper!

Refreshers from Starbucks make my life!!

We shopped a bit too long and only gave ourselves a short time to get ready before we had to head to dinner! But we got it all done and made it to Il Mercato before a huge rush came in behind us! Il Mercato is one of my favorite places to eat! I honestly don't think I have tried anything I didn't like there! So, yummy in your tummy and they have the best white wine there called Spy Valley! It is my favorite and I always get a glass even if I didn't plan on it so I should probably just embrace it and know I will get one each time!
Jumbo shrimp appy! Yes please!

Then it was onto the concert! Serena Ryder is probably one of the best performers I have every seen! Not only is her music amazing she really knows how to put on a good show! If we could have we would have stayed Sunday night too because Serena was playing another concert on Sunday night in Halifax again but alas we couldn't do that! But, I know I have said this 1000 times over but if you haven't listened to Serena Ryder do yourself a favor and go and check her out! You won't be disappointed and if you are we are not longer friends okay. :) The girl who opened for Serena was very good too but I can't remember her name for the life of me and Erica isn't home right now for me to ask her! But she was really good. So, happy we got to see her again! 4 times! Still loving every minute! Hope she comes back again soon!

En route to concert after dinner!
Waiting for Serena to come on stage!

After the concert Erica went to out with her friends for a bit in their hotel room but I was kinda tired so I opted to tuck in with some snacks and watch curling! Brier time baby! Wish I was in Edmonton! I would love to go to the Brier again! I also may have have the BB Canada live feeds going on too! Slightly addicted! I can't help it! Ended up not getting to sleep until 2am that night and was up at 8am so not too bad but it would have been nice to sleep in longer! We had breakfast plans though!

I met up with my lovely friends Danielle, Deena and Gavin for breakfast at Cora's It was nice to have a catch up with them because I haven't been them in about a month! Wish Tiana could have been there but she was off in New Brunswick for the weekend! After breakfast I headed back to my cousin Callee's place because Erica was off to the last basketball game! I had a lovely afternoon with Callee! I hadn't seen her since like Christmas so it was nice to catch up! Good laughs!

Gavin, Deena, Me and Danielle! Love them!

It was a great weekend! I loved seeing everyone and going to the concert. It was a good time whenever me and Erica go anywhere with each other! I hope everyone else had a great weekend too! I don't have anything planned for this weekend so we will see what happens!

Happy Monday Everyone! xoxo

Friday Letters

22 February 2013 4 comments

It is Friday everyone! We have all survived yet another week! Everyone pat yourself on the back for this! I would do it for ya but that would just take me far too long to get to everyone! I hope you all had a great week and have great plans for this weekend! I don't have much planned, movies tonight with Erica and Jen and tomorrow I think I'm going to a fund riser that my cousin is doing. So not a crazy weekend but good times next weekend I'm very excited for as I think I have mentioned I'm going to see Serena Ryder! I'm amped for that because she is AWESOME! This will be the 4th time I have her seen her live. If you get a chance to see her live do it she is amazing and if you don't go and get her albums because you will love them I promise :) Anyways, on with Friday letters!

Dear Momma, You will finally be home from Hawaii tomorrow! Can't wait to see you and hear all about your trip!
Dear Halifax Trip, You're going to be awesome because I get to see my girls, shop a little, see Serena Ryder and get to stay in a hotel for the weekend! Nothing can make that bad!
Dear March, You're almost here and I can't believe it because it feels like it should still be January! I'm excited for you though because there is some good times coming up like next weekend and Crop and Create Moncton! Yup March you should be a good month!
Dear Zoomies, You make me laugh out loud every time I see your TV ad! LOL (please look these up if you don't know what I'm talking about!
Dear Colleen Jones, You're a great curler but you're in your 50's stop wearing your hair like you're 18! Side fishtail braid doesn't look good on you. If you want to wear your hair up the pony tail you have in today looks much better.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Weekend Update!

28 January 2013 2 comments

Okay I haven't done a link up with Sami in forever so I figured since I had a decent weekend and even took a few pictures I would  do a weekend update!

The weekend started on Friday with more then enough primping because I was headed to watch some cute boys curl for the evening. I know most of you probably don't even watch curling or even know what it is but it is a hard sport! Lots of strategy for this sport and skill because I know I would hurt myself playing this! I'm sure I would slip and fall on the ice before I could even play! On the bonus side of it all there are some cuties! This weekend Port Hawkesbury (about 90 minutes away from me) was holding an event called the National and some of the biggest teams in curling were going to be there so I got myself some tickets and took off with Erica once she was done at work! We stopped at Boston Pizza for dinner before heading to the Hawk which was delish! I had Thai bites and a salad...thai bites make my life haha. Oh and I had a drink called a Twisted Rocket which tastes like a Rocket popsicle! Amaze! We got the Civic Centre a tad early but it was okay because we got to see a few of the curler wondering around. I should have gone up to some of them but no one else seemed to be doing that and it was before the game so you don't know what mind frame they are in but honestly looking back I should have jumped at the chance to get my picture with John Morris! I think he is the reason why girls that are under the age of 60 are watching curling now. Curling used to be the old person sport but it is really catching on with everyone now especially since the Olympics in Vancouver! Anyways, it was a great night of curling and seeing some of my favorite teams play. The only team I didn't get to see was Team Jacobs which was kinda disappointing but what can you do they played in the draw before the one we were at. I did get to see Team Martin (reigning Olympic Champs), Team Koe and Team Howard which made me a happy girl! Here are some pictures from Friday :)

Almost ready to start!

Nolan Thiessen...lead for Team Koe...I heart him

Ben Hebert...lead for Team Martin...also heart him...I have a thing for Leads

Kevin Martin and Marc Kennedy

Nolan again

Action shot

More action

John Morris...Third for Team Martin....he is so good looking!

Curling: the only sport where you can giggle with the team you're playing against!

I love this sport!

Saturday was a lazy day because we didn't get home from curling until late. It was around 12:30 I think because the event wasn't even over until 11pm, then of course I couldn't get to sleep for another hour or so! So yes, a tad lazy on Saturday but on Saturday night we decided one night of curling in a cold rink wasn't even we decided to head over to the rink here for my cousin's hockey game! Hadn't been to the new rink at the Wellness Centre yet so I figured it was good time to go and check it out. Seems pretty nice, didn't get to see much expect the rink but that is what we were there for! Sadly the boys lost the game 4-3, they tried! I think they outplayed the other team but they just couldn't get the puck to the back of the net. They did beat the same team today 9-3! Should have gone to watch that one instead! Anyways it was fun night! I love watching hockey so I was a happy camper! Bonus, rink not that cold :)

And today was extra lazy! I didn't even really get dressed! Had a shower and put my sweats back on! Hope everyone had a great weekend and you're ready for another week!

Have any plans already for next weekend??

xoxo

1. Do you plan to change any of your eating habits in the new year?
-I do! I think most people do because of how we eat during the holidays! LOL

2. Any workout tips to get us back in shape after the Holidays?
-I don't have too many, mainly just try to get in whatever you when you can because we all know we are all busy but gotta make the time!

3. What is your favorite thing you did over the Holidays?
-My favorite thing is just spending quality time with my family and friends! I love the days where we all just lay around as a family and watch TV and really just be totally lazy! This is normally Boxing Day and the 27th! Best days!

4. What is something you hope that you accomplish in 2013 that you did not in 2012?
-Oh gosh I don't even know where to start with this question so I think I'm just gonna leave it alone!

5. Name 3 things happening this year you are excited about and why.
1. Deena and Gavin are moving back to Nova Scotia! Why am I excited about this because it will be awesome to have them in the same province and not across an ocean!
2. I'm turning 30....wait I'm not sure I'm excited about that!
3. Hopefully going to see some curling at the end of the month! Super excited to hopefully see Team Koe and Team Martin!

Happy Sunday Everyone! xo

Friday's Letters

Dear 2013, I enjoyed 2012 so I'm really hoping you have some awesomeness planned to make me love you! I would like 2013 to be filled with everything amazing. I have a few things planned for you myself but if you could step in and make some fun surprise happen I would be okay with that! Here's to you 2013!

Dear Grand Slam Curling, I would really like to come in see you in Cape Breton! Please don't be sold out or have totally shitty seats left when I go to buy some tickets!

Dear Mother Nature, I know you have been rather good to us this winter but if you could please not storm so I can get to the curling in Cape Breton in a few weeks that would be amazing! I will be asking for this each week until it is time for the curling!

Dear Team Koe, Please be playing when I come to see some curling! I would be rather sad if I came and you guys didn't have game to play while I was there.

Dear Deena and Gavin, I'm very excited to have coming back to Nova Scotia! I know you're both excited and nervous but it will all work out! You have more love and support then you're going to need. Love you both so much! xo

Have a great weekend everyone! See you on Sunday!
