Critics Choice Awards Fashion Round Up

18 January 2016 No comments
Another Sunday goes by another award weekend we had! Last night the Critics Choice Awards were given out but really we know we watched to see if the fashions got better from the Golden Globes which were so underwhelming I have to say I did like more of the dresses this time and there was three that stood out to me. In no order here are my choices for Best Dressed at the Critics Choice Awards

 Alicia Vikander
This heavily beaded custom Mary Katrantzou looked amazing on her. I normally do not go for the heavily beaded looks but this was beautiful. I love how she kept everything else soft, there was no need for heavy jewelry, make up and hair. The ease of the messy up do and the tan of her skin just perfectly when with her dress.

 Rachel McAdams
She is stunning in this burgundy Elie Saab! This dress was made for her! This dress was made for a small breasted woman! It would not have been half as perfect if it was trying to contain larger breasts! I love everything about this dress, her hair and make up! Hands down this was actually my winner of the night!

Saoirse Ronan
I love the simplicity of this dress. She is young she does not need an over the top dress. The pale blue of the this Antonio Berardi is such a beautiful color on her. I also love the chevron detail on the shoulders. I may have done her hair differently but all in all I did love this look.

Did you watch the awards? Who did you think was best dressed or worst dressed? Let me know :)

Emmy Fashions!

24 September 2013 2 comments
Today is Emmy Fashion Day! I know I should have been more on the money and had this post yesterday but really I wanted to make sure my choices were the right ones (in my opinion anyways). I know not everyone will agree with my choices but I'm going to give you my top 3 best and worst dressed. I could probably make a list longer than that but I think Top 3 is enough :) Enjoy!

Best Dressed

Elisabeth Moss: I love this dress because it is simple but it has that bling factor without being over the top. I love how she kept everything simple from her accessories to her make up. I also wish I could pull off this hair! No idea why I love it so much but I do!

Sofia Vergara: When does this woman look bad? Oh right never! I love this color and shape on her. She know how to dress herself! I love her hair because it is easy and doesn't look overly done. I also love her accessories. Accents the dress perfectly.

Tina Fey: Momma looks good! I love this shape on her and the color is perfect! The girls will look great too. Again, her whole look looks easy, it isn't over done because that is when Tina doesn't look good because she doesn't seem like that kind of woman who needs to her perfect all the time!

Worst Dressed

Lena Dunham: Where to start? I don't think Lena is ever going to make my best dressed list! I swear I have scrapbooking paper with this same print on it! Nothing about this look works for me! Maybe if it was solid or something! Yeah I don't even know what to say for this!

Melissa Leo: WTF??? Those pants! That jacket! Yup, someone didn't look in the mirror before she left the house!

Zooey Deschanel: I don't like this dress. I think it is too closed up for her. She didn't look comfortable to me. She looked great but I really didn't like this dress.

And there you go my fashion report from the 2013 Emmys!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Shopaholic Tag!

28 May 2013 2 comments
Two posts in one day! I don't think I have don't that with this blog! Or since I was on livejournal and probably needed to have some kind of silly vent session! haha Oh Livejournal!

I have seen this Shopaholic Tag around YouTube and the blog world for some time now and I have finally decided I might as well do it even though I'm totally not a shopaholic right? haha I can't even say that with a straight face! I'm laughing at myself right now even though you can't see me! So, anyways here we go with the Shopaholic Tag!

1. Would you consider yourself a shopaholic?
Actually, I don't really! I mean I LOVE LOVE shopping but I have to say I haven't really shopped since December! But yes I guess I should somewhat consider myself a shopaholic because I do love it and I do get that rush from it!

2. How would you classify your style?
I would say I'm pretty classic in what I wear but I add in trendy stuff. I'm a jeans and nice top kinda girl but I do love to dress up!

3. What store can you not leave without buying at least one thing?
Oh gosh probably Shopper's Drug Mart or Wal-Mart sadly! haha And Forever 21 because one can never have enough necklaces!

4. Where do you find the best deals?
Normally online and especially at Old Navy! They have stepped up their game with some of their stuff and it is really cute now!

5. What designer are you willing to splurge for?
Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs!

6. Do you have a go to shopping outfit?
Not really but if you know you're trying on a lot of stuff something easy to remove and maybe have a pair of socks for trying on shoes!

7. What is your guilty pleasure? (Not including makeup)
Probably purses! I love them I can't help it! haha

8. What is one staple clothing piece you cannot live without?
Dark straight leg mini flare jeans! You can dress them up and dress them down!

9. What is a trend you hope never goes out of style?
Lace! Love it!

10. What trend did you love that passed way to quickly?
I don't know!

11. Who is your fashion icon?
Jennifer Aniston, I think she is amazing!

Carrie Underwood...I just love Carrie!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

ACM Awards! Fashion Recap!

08 April 2013 6 comments
Last night was the ACM Awards so since I haven't been able to do a fashion recap since the Oscars I figured I may as well do one today since I did love some of the fashions I saw and of course some well did not work out as well I'm sure they wanted them too! I also will be linking you to some of the performances I loved! Carrie Underwood rocked it!! But lets not get ahead of ourselves and get back to the fashion! First up what I loved!

Best Dressed!

Carrie Underwood...I actually really loved this dress on Carrie because it is not her normal look, I love the large floral print on it! I have to say normally I wouldn't but there is just something about this dress that I love! Also, you can never fault Carrie on her flawless make up and hair!

Jana Kramer...I love love this gold dress with Jana's coloring! It is a lot being gold but it is simple at the same time. I'm happy seeing her at the awards too because I really like her album! You should check her out if you haven't heard her before. She was on One Tree Hill too! But back on track with the fashion I love how she left everything else very simple because the dress is enough! Just some simple hair and make up and she looks like a million bucks!

Jewel...LOVE this color! So nice and springy! I also really like the shape and fit of this dress on her. She looks amazing! I love the overlay on the dress and it is just a pretty dress on a pretty girl! I love the easy hair and make up too. Who knew back in the day Jewel would grow up to be such a beauty queen! Love her!

Worst Dressed

Shania Twain...What are you wearing!? Everything about this wrong! The boots the dress! Gross! The only thing I like is her make up! Why is there extra fabric just hanging on the sides of the dress? You're not 20 years old anymore Shania, learn to dress yourself!

Faith Hill...She is one of my favorites but I'm not sure what she was thinking this number! The slit but the front isn't flattering, and the lace just does not work! Because of the slit it almost looks like a pant of crop pants! Faith, what happened last night?

Kaley Cucoco...I have to say I don't mind this dress but her whole look is ruined by her hair! You're going to the Country Music Awards Kaley not the rock music awards! Pink would not even have wore her hair like that if she was attending! Mind you it would have looked better on Pink. But oh dear yup when I saw her on the red carpet I was like oh no Kaley!

Hope you guys liked this little recap of the fashions from last night! If you watched who were your favorites and misses? Anyways I'm going to leave you with 3 performances from last night that I loved :) Thanks for dropping by!

Oscar Fashions! (LONG post)

26 February 2013 2 comments
I know I'm a day late with the Oscar Fashion post but honestly yesterday I didn't have time to post anything much less a good post about the Oscars! Did everyone watch? I watched all the red carpet on E! and then stayed up for the last award! I don't think I have done that since Matt Damon and Ben Affleck won their Oscar! I always watch the Oscars but normally head to bed before it is over. Yes, I know my bad! But this year since I have been more into the awards this year because I want to see Ben Affleck win everything he can! I had to stay up to see Argo win for Best Picture! So excited it did! And thank you to Ben for thanking Canada :) His speech was adorable when he was thanking Jennifer! And it was such an honest speech because you could tell how excited he was! Yup, still have that crush on him.

But lets move on to what really matters the Fashions! I have to say everyone well almost everyone really stepped it up for the Oscars this year because I had a very hard time coming up with my lists so I'm going to be doing something a little different! I'm giving you my top fashion picks for the women and the men. I will mention right now that I though Kristen Stewart looked awful! Hello Kristen wash your hair before you go to the Oscars! She is just gross to me LOL Sorry for any of you who like her but she is bugs me and she needs to wash her hair! Now, onto my top Fashion Ladies!

1. Charlize Theron - She is the probably the best looking woman in the world. This dress is perfection on her. The white just pops on her tan skin and the shape is to die for. Also, how amazingly beautiful do you have to be to carry off this hair cut? Yes, that beautiful and Charlize does it without any effort. Amazing! I can't say enough about her and this fashion choice.

2. Jessica Chastain - This copper gown looked amazing on her. This is my favorite of her award gowns this season. Her hair was perfectly polished and that red lip just topped off the look perfectly. Her gown was fitted to a tee and she just looked amazing!

3. Samantha Barks - I love the simple elegance of this dress, I know the neckline is you know a tad low but think Samantha looks smashing in it. The only thing I would change is her necklace, I would change it out for some statement bangles maybe. Make up and hair perfect, loved this look!

4. Jennifer Lawerence - This gown was amazing and Jennifer wore it very well! I loved how it was white but didn't read bridal! There is a very fine line there and lucky she was on the right side of it! I loved her hair and make up! I think one of my favorite things those was her wearing her necklace down her back. I love how it sparkled and just looked really nice. I love this girl and how down to earth she is! How can you not love her when she fell going to get her Oscar and then brushes it off with a joke!? She looked amazing!

5. Jennifer Hudson - Stunner! I loved her sparkly blue dress! I think her hair looked amazing with the dress because she didn't try to do too much with it! Her dress had it all going on then she just had simple make up with simple hair! What a beauty!

6. Amanda Seyfried - The dress is stunning on her, I would have loved to seen her in a dramatic color but this is kind of her thing this award season so we will go with it!. I loved the neckline of her and it fit her very nicely. I loved her eye make up especially, hair perfectly done as well!

7. Adelle - I think this dress looked so classic on Adelle, it as youthful classic look with a great bit of sparkle! Because we all love a bit of sparkle right? I think it was tailored perfectly on her. I loved her hair and make up but honestly I think her hair and make up are always spot on! She has great confidence and I just love her.

8. Jennifer Aniston - I'm so excited that she wore a COLOR! Jennifer is normally in black, white, or a neutral color so I was so excited to see her in this red dress! It was a nice change from her normally black form fitting dresses! I thought she looked amazing in this red color. Love her hair but maybe should have pulled it up into a side knot or something but never the less she looked fantastic!

And now I'm not going to be a worst dressed because I didn't think there was anyone who really dropped the ball this year. Yes there was some that could have been much better Anne Hathway, Salma Hayak, Nicole Kidman but all in all I think the Oscars were one of the best dressed events of the award season. I will leave you with the men who I thought looked smashing!

Bradley Cooper! Could have used less hair gel but he always looks good!

Joseph Gordon Levitt - What a cutie!

Channing Tatum - When doesn't he look good?

Ben Affleck! Best looking man in the house! And Jennifer Garner could have been a best dressed pick if she didn't have that ruffle down the back of her! Loved her necklace!

Hope you liked my picks! Who were you loving at the Oscars this past weekend?
xoxo

Winter Blues Got You Down?

24 January 2013 No comments
Got the winter blues? So do I and they are no fun. I long for more daylight and lightweight clothes. I am tired of dodging slush with cute shoes and having fear that my legs will get frostbite if I wear a skirt. Who else is so over black and gray? I am also growing slightly bored with the whole skirt and tights look. Blah - winter is here for another few months and we have to make the best of it.

Hi everyone! I am Allana and my slice of the blog world is A Husband and A Dog. On AHAAD you will read about my boring life with Big E, my husband, and our cute-as-ever Corgi names Lincoln. Oh sure there are posts about my fashion, hair, and makeup OR the lack there of. Although in twenty thirteen I vow to be more "put together" and actually give a hoot about my appearance. Therefore ... this entry that Brittany so graciously offered to me. Now let's get a move on to some winter fashion to carry us over till the birds start chirping again.

The first outfit is a favorite of mine. LOVE the color of the coat. Those leather leggings are to.die.for in my book. This shows that you can still look chic by pairing black with bright colors and make a statement.

While this next outfit has colors of fall why couldn't you wear this now? Those cinnamon colored pants are outrageous and love the navy shirt paired with it. The menswear inspired "blazer-vest" is a great add on.

I pretty much desire all the clothes on this site. I like to think that I have fashion style when really I don't.

Hope you enjoyed this little fashion show and it inspired you to get out of your winter rut. I know I am headed to the mall to buy a few statement pieces.

To get you inspired I am going to offer one of Brittany's readers a $10 virtual gift card to The Limited to get a jump start on getting out of the winter blues funk. The card can be redeemed at THELIMITED.com, eloquii.com and at any The Limited store locations.

Side note: If you are a plus-sized woman and never heard of Eloquii before - OMG. They have all the same great styles as The Limited offers but in your size. Yes, I am plus-sized and I find sooo many great finds on this site.

Remember to stop by my blog and introduce youself. Take care and good luck!
