Friday Favorites!

12 October 2018 1 comment
Happy Friday everyone! Here we are at the end of another week and we made it through with flying colors! I swear the older I get the quicker time passes though. This week was a short one anyways because of the Thanksgiving Holiday. How was your week? Quick or Slow?

Again this week I'm linking up with the girls for Friday Favorites. For this week I did have more favorites then the past few weeks so lets get on it...

On Wednesday evening I headed over to the final debate for our leadership race for the PC Party of Nova Scotia. This is the one I really wanted to go to since it was the last one and the closest to home for me. Since it is coming down to the final weeks of a very long (too long to be honest) race for leader things have gotten somewhat nasty. I will not lie, I'm profoundly disappointed by one of the candidates who I know is a truly good man, but lets not get into that because we are here for my favorites of the week. The candidate I'm supporting Tim Houston, has anyways made me proud, I have watched him grow since coming onto the scene as MLA for Pictou East in 2013. Wednesday night at the debate I watched him take on petty/nasty bull (for lack of a better word), with the grace I want in my leader. My heart swelled with pride for him, happy knowing I call him a friend. Now, I'm even more excited for the leadership convention, even though I have already mailed in my ballot. Win, lose or draw he has done an amazing job and will continue to do great things.

Another one of my favorites which has been basically on repeat since it came it has been the Carrie Underwood album Cry Pretty. I love Carrie and this album is another great one. I actually love all the songs which is not always the norm for me because normally there is always one or two that I will skip over, not so with album. I think my top three songs from the album are Love Wins...because it just seems like something we all need to hear right now with all the issues going on around the world and how really we all just need to love each other and figure things out....Champion because it is just an awesome song, great to have on the work out playlist by the way....Ghosts on the Stereo, again just another great song. If you like Carrie and you haven't checked out this album yet I strongly suggest you go and listen to it soon!

I started a new book on Monday, The Tattooist for Auschwitz by Heather Morris and it is so good so far. Here is the about section from Chapters on it to give you the idea of what is it about...

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is based on the true story of Lale and Gita Sokolov, two Slovakian Jews, who survived Auschwitz and eventually made their home in Australia. In that terrible place, Lale was given the job of tattooing the prisoners marked for survival—literally scratching numbers into his fellow victims’ arms in indelible ink to create what would become one of the most potent symbols of the Holocaust. Lale used the infinitesimal freedom of movement that this position awarded him to exchange jewels and money taken from murdered Jews for food to keep others alive. If he had been caught he would have been killed; many owed him their survival.

There have been many books about the Holocaust—and there will be many more. What makes this one so memorable is Lale Sokolov’s incredible zest for life. He understood exactly what was in store for him and his fellow prisoners and he was determined to survive—not just to survive, but to leave the camp with his dignity and integrity intact, to live his life to the full. Terrible though this story is, it is also a story of hope and of courage. It is also—almost unbelievably—a love story. Waiting in line to be tattooed, terrified and shaking, was a young girl. For Lale—a dandy, a jack-the-lad, a bit of a chancer—it was love at first sight and he determined not only to survive himself, but to ensure that Gita did, too. His story—their story—will make you weep, but you will also find it uplifting. It shows the very best of humanity in the very worst of circumstances.

Like many survivors, Lale and Gita told few people their story after the war. They eventually made their way to Australia, where they raised a son and had a successful life. But when Gita died, Lale felt he could no longer carry the burden of their past alone. He chose to tell his story.

These stories of survivors of the Holocaust are some of my favorite stories to read because I can't imagine how they survived and the devastation they lived though. I haven't gotten too far into yet but I know already that it is going to be a great read that is for sure.

Alright, that is all from me this week. I hope everyone has a great weekend and I will be back on Monday with something great for you to read (fingers crossed). Happy Weekending!

Shopaholic Tag!

28 May 2013 2 comments
Two posts in one day! I don't think I have don't that with this blog! Or since I was on livejournal and probably needed to have some kind of silly vent session! haha Oh Livejournal!

I have seen this Shopaholic Tag around YouTube and the blog world for some time now and I have finally decided I might as well do it even though I'm totally not a shopaholic right? haha I can't even say that with a straight face! I'm laughing at myself right now even though you can't see me! So, anyways here we go with the Shopaholic Tag!

1. Would you consider yourself a shopaholic?
Actually, I don't really! I mean I LOVE LOVE shopping but I have to say I haven't really shopped since December! But yes I guess I should somewhat consider myself a shopaholic because I do love it and I do get that rush from it!

2. How would you classify your style?
I would say I'm pretty classic in what I wear but I add in trendy stuff. I'm a jeans and nice top kinda girl but I do love to dress up!

3. What store can you not leave without buying at least one thing?
Oh gosh probably Shopper's Drug Mart or Wal-Mart sadly! haha And Forever 21 because one can never have enough necklaces!

4. Where do you find the best deals?
Normally online and especially at Old Navy! They have stepped up their game with some of their stuff and it is really cute now!

5. What designer are you willing to splurge for?
Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs!

6. Do you have a go to shopping outfit?
Not really but if you know you're trying on a lot of stuff something easy to remove and maybe have a pair of socks for trying on shoes!

7. What is your guilty pleasure? (Not including makeup)
Probably purses! I love them I can't help it! haha

8. What is one staple clothing piece you cannot live without?
Dark straight leg mini flare jeans! You can dress them up and dress them down!

9. What is a trend you hope never goes out of style?
Lace! Love it!

10. What trend did you love that passed way to quickly?
I don't know!

11. Who is your fashion icon?
Jennifer Aniston, I think she is amazing!

Carrie Underwood...I just love Carrie!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!
xoxo

ACM Awards! Fashion Recap!

08 April 2013 6 comments
Last night was the ACM Awards so since I haven't been able to do a fashion recap since the Oscars I figured I may as well do one today since I did love some of the fashions I saw and of course some well did not work out as well I'm sure they wanted them too! I also will be linking you to some of the performances I loved! Carrie Underwood rocked it!! But lets not get ahead of ourselves and get back to the fashion! First up what I loved!

Best Dressed!

Carrie Underwood...I actually really loved this dress on Carrie because it is not her normal look, I love the large floral print on it! I have to say normally I wouldn't but there is just something about this dress that I love! Also, you can never fault Carrie on her flawless make up and hair!

Jana Kramer...I love love this gold dress with Jana's coloring! It is a lot being gold but it is simple at the same time. I'm happy seeing her at the awards too because I really like her album! You should check her out if you haven't heard her before. She was on One Tree Hill too! But back on track with the fashion I love how she left everything else very simple because the dress is enough! Just some simple hair and make up and she looks like a million bucks!

Jewel...LOVE this color! So nice and springy! I also really like the shape and fit of this dress on her. She looks amazing! I love the overlay on the dress and it is just a pretty dress on a pretty girl! I love the easy hair and make up too. Who knew back in the day Jewel would grow up to be such a beauty queen! Love her!

Worst Dressed

Shania Twain...What are you wearing!? Everything about this wrong! The boots the dress! Gross! The only thing I like is her make up! Why is there extra fabric just hanging on the sides of the dress? You're not 20 years old anymore Shania, learn to dress yourself!

Faith Hill...She is one of my favorites but I'm not sure what she was thinking this number! The slit but the front isn't flattering, and the lace just does not work! Because of the slit it almost looks like a pant of crop pants! Faith, what happened last night?

Kaley Cucoco...I have to say I don't mind this dress but her whole look is ruined by her hair! You're going to the Country Music Awards Kaley not the rock music awards! Pink would not even have wore her hair like that if she was attending! Mind you it would have looked better on Pink. But oh dear yup when I saw her on the red carpet I was like oh no Kaley!

Hope you guys liked this little recap of the fashions from last night! If you watched who were your favorites and misses? Anyways I'm going to leave you with 3 performances from last night that I loved :) Thanks for dropping by!

#BackthatazzUp Friday!

05 April 2013 2 comments
Why Hello My Little Coffee Breakers! It is Friday!! Friday is always a good day no matter what isn't it? I was a little slack this week with my blogging but I was busy doing other things and it is my sister's birthday so I had other things on my mind! I have stuff planned for next week though so hopefully it all comes together like I want it too :)

But onto the important stuff! Dance Party Friday! I have narrowed my songs down to two this week, because I can't just pick one this week! Mainly because Ms Carrie Underwood was on Idol last night and I have been listening to her a lot this week! So, I figured I had to mention her today and I'm dedicating my second song today to the lovely hostess of this link up Whitney!

I hope everyone has a good Friday and has a great weekend planned! Mine is pretty chill but I'm looking forward to that :) Happy Weekend Everyone!
